Mitchell “The Sniper” Sipe (4-0) has the next phase of his career locked in his crosshairs. On July 31, 2018, Sipe will set foot in Las Vegas to face Don’Tale “Kong” Mayers (4-2) during week seven of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series (DWTNCS).
Sipe, a giant brute from Bakersfield, California, has yet to suffer a setback as a pro. As crazy as it is to comprehend, a win alone isn’t enough for the contestants of DWTNCS—at least if they want to earn a contract to the UFC from the promotion’s President, Dana White. In Sipe’s last outing—Tachi Palace Fights (TPF) 34, he claimed the TPF Heavyweight Title with a highlight reel technical knockout. With three consecutive victories without any input from the judges under his belt, a fourth, in exclamatory fashion, could expedite his departure from California’s regional scene and onto MMA’s elite stage.
The set of DWTNCS will be a familiar scene for Mayers because he had previously cycled through the UFC’s newest application process, appearing in the reality show’s premier season (2017). Following his failed attempt to board the UFC’s roster, the Indiana native derailed the undefeated path of Mohammed Usman at Victory Fighting Championship 60, earning yet another invitation to perform before, potentially, his future boss.
