Bay Area Combat 2: Results & Recap

June 30, 2018—Thirteen match-ups, eleven finishes, four championship belts, and the Napa Valley Expo filled with hundreds of deafening screams equaled one unforgettable, as well as historic, evening in Northern California’s MMA scene when the opening bell at Bay Area Combat (BAC) 2 sounded.

Main Event: Adam Wamsley vs. Daniel Compton for the C.A.M.O State Light Heavyweight Title

Every tasting room in the city must have emptied during BAC 2’s main event because it sounded like all of Napa welcomed their hometown hero, Adam Wamsley, upon his walkout music hitting the speakers.

The deafening roar for Wamsley didn’t turn down the volume of Daniel Compton’s confidence. Even after the opening round appeared to point in Wamsley’s favor, the focus of Compton remained rocksteady. Shortly into the second-round, the outsider from Santa Cruz scored a takedown, secured a rear-naked choke, and silenced the raucous crowd.

Co-Main Event: Anthony Beal vs. David Skuba for the BAC Lightweight Title

David Skuba nearly walked away with two keepsakes from BAC 2’s co-main event: The BAC Lightweight Championship and the arm of his opponent, Anthony Beal.

Following a first frame where the judges flipped a coin for who took the lead on their scorecards, Skuba decided to drown Beal with pressure in the second, thereby nullifying any reach disadvantage with some hard-nosed wrestling. Once Skuba isolated Beal’s arm, it became a game of give-and-take; if Beal didn’t give Skuba the tap, the product of Team Alpha Male, Combat Sports Academy, and Fightkore MMA was going to take his opposition’s arm home with him using a Kimura.

Feature Bout: Camilo Mejia vs. Giovanni Rosales for the BAC Welterweight Title

Top teams in the region collided when El Nino Training Center’s Camilo Mejia and AKA’s own Giovanni Rosales were cut loose from their corners.

The intense ground game of Mejia left the cage side scorekeepers with little to grapple with when tabulating their final verdict, awarding him the unanimous decision victory.
