March 31, 2018—MMA math doesn’t always add up, but the level of excitement the sport generates never fails to divide fans from their seats with an eruption of cheers. When Gladiator Challenge filled Pano Hall inside Thunder Valley Casino Resort for their latest event, entitled Gladiator Challenge: Redemption, the sold out crowd lowered one chin after another toward the floor over the course of the sixteen, jaw-dropping bouts.

The stats from Gladiator Challenge: Redemption may seem like a subtraction from reality; however, in this instance, each data point bear the bloody truth. To highlight the exponential pace from one fight to the next: the duration of the first fifteen fights on the card didn’t even measure the length of a standard three-round, fifteen-minute, affair; moreover, from the opening bell until the close of the co-main event, a total of 14.87 minutes were catalogued.

Main Event: Christian Giovannie vs. Jay Pulliam for the Gladiator Challenge Bantamweight Title

Gladiator Challenge’s matchmaker saved the best for last. Nick Diaz Academy’s Christian Giovannie and MMAGOLD’s Jay Pulliam traded punches, knockdowns, takedowns, and a nonstop pursuit of the championship belt.

Interestingly enough, the only instance where the cage side officials handed in scorecards stirred controversy. Although round one could be argued in favor of Pulliam, it appeared Giovannie had fulfilled the necessary criteria to earn a nod in his direction in each of the three frames.

The judges scored the fight: 29-28 (Pulliam), 29-28 (Giovannie), and 30-27 (Pulliam), thereby awarding Pulliam the split-decision victory.
