NorCal MMA’s Preview of West Coast Elite MMA

For many mixed martial artists, the ability to even find a place on an event’s card can be as grueling as a three-round war inside the cage.

This phenomenon isn’t unique to MMA. In fact, all martial artists, whether techniques are mixed or not, struggle to gain traction in such a competitive marketplace. West Coast Elite MMA, in a collaborative effort with Bellator MMA, is looking to turn the sport’s current business model upside-down.

After dabbling in the world of striking under the banner West Coast Elite Kickboxing, the promoters, Anthony Quesada and Joe Tenedora, decided to expand the Bay Area’s realm of combat by establishing a foothold in MMA’s bubble. Instead of their newly formed MMA organization being concerned with contracting the biggest names throughout the region, the focus was directed at using their brand of violence as a scouting agency for the sport’s big leagues. Quesada shared with, “Our mission is to grow the next generation.”

The first installment of West Coast Elite MMA will fill San Jose’s Unify Event Center, and the amount of unknown walking into March 3, 2018, especially booking numerous debutants, increases the level of intrigue as to which of these developing athletes will surface with the shine of a diamond from Northern California’s fertile rough.
