By etching another tally into the win column at UFC of FOX 27, Andre ‘Touchy’ Fili (17-5) could earn a position as a ranked contender on the UFC’s featherweight roster.
The heavily tattooed member of Team Alpha Male will decorate the screen on FOX, the UFC’s most tangible platform to attract viewers, in a clash with the eleventh-ranked 145-pounder, Dennis ‘The Menace’ Bermudez (17-7), in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Since entering the UFC in 2013, Fili has flip-flopped between the mountainous peaks of victory and the deep valleys of defeat; whereas, Bermudez scorched the scene with six straight success stories, though has greatly decelerated following a recent pair of losses.
On the heels of a dominant unanimous decision over Artem Lobov at UFC Fight Night 118, the post-fight interview delivered by Fili inside the Octagon pushed him into a position as pound-for-pound peddler of humanity. After pouring his heart and soul onto the canvas for fifteen-minutes, Fili painted a heartfelt message of positivity:
“To be honest, I don’t even want to talk about fighting right now,” he began. “I want to say something real quick: This whole two months I was in my fight camp, all I saw on the news was mass shootings and bombings and tsunamis and hurricanes, and there are forest fires all up and down California. You guys…We’ve got to start treating each other like human beings; we’ve got to show each other a little love. There’s only one race; it’s the human race. We got to start giving a shit about each other and giving a shit about this planet we inherited, and our kids and our grandkids are going to inherit.”
At UFC on FOX 27 on January 27, 2018, Fili’s well wishes, no matter the final result against Bermudez, will continue, but the closer he can get to the UFC’s championship belt, the brighter his message will shine across the world.
