Clear Head Full Heart Foundation: NorCal’s Fight Against CTE

About six years ago, Branden Ware resurrected, what soon grew to become, one of the more prominent MMA promotions in Northern California: West Coast Fighting Championship. Though there’s been no formal announcement of the regional fight organization boarding up its doors, it’s obvious Ware’s attention has shifted in a different direction.

Instead of locking a steel door behind mixed martial artists, Ware is opening possibility for those who have suffered brain traumas, whether from MMA, military, or some other form of concussive contact to the head, by establishing the Clear Head Full Heart Foundation.

According to the Foundation’s website (link here), the mission statement reads as:

“CTE is a progressive degenerative disease that affects the brain of people who have suffered repeated concussions and traumatic brain injuries, such as athletes in contact sports, members of the military, and other highly physical or contact endeavors. We’re working  to find ways to safeguard the future happiness and health of athletes and military members by doing the following: detection, prevention, education, and research.”

Just as Ware provided a home for the area’s up-and-coming prizefighters, many who now reside in the sport’s upper-echelon, several of these athletes have joined Ware on his battle to knockout CTE:

Hey friends please go follow @clearheadfullheart and also go to their website http://clearheadfullheart.com to donate to help those suffering from CTE. This cause is really important to me so please do what you can to help those who have CTE due to multiple concussions and traumatic brain injuries. 🙏🏼❤️ #ClearHeadFullHeart #CTE #nonprofitfoundation #Repost @clearheadfullheart with @repostapp ・・・ CTE is a progressive degenerative disease that affects the brain of people who have suffered repeated concussions and traumatic brain injuries, such as athletes in contact sports, members of the military, and other highly physical or contact endeavors.
