Tyler Diamond vs. Emilio Chavez for the GKO Featherweight Title

Global Knockout (GKO), a Northern California based MMA promotion with nationwide appeal, announced its headliners for their eleventh show, GKO 11, on November 4, 2017: Tyler Diamond (8-0) versus Emilio ‘The Furious Aztec’ Chavez (13-9) for the vacant GKO Featherweight Title.

GKO’s Matchmaker removed any gamble from the equation for fight fans filling the Grand Oak Ballroom inside Jackson Rancheria Casino & Resort, pairing mixed martial artists who leave nothing to chance. Pitting the upper half of ‘The Golden State’ against its arch-nemesis from the south, Diamond and Chavez are two prospects on the verge of popping the regional seal. A shiny belt from GKO may attract the attention necessary, as it has in the past, to receive the invite to the next level of the sport—the UFC.

Diamond, a young buck from Team Alpha Male, has kept his dream of reaching the UFC in  his crosshairs since trading his singlet at North Dakota State University for a pair of four-ounce gloves. Whether Diamond is marring unblemished records, as he did in his last outing at TPF 31, or smashing gobs of experience, which many of his opponents owned over him, into a non-factor, the decibels of his Oroville collective, and swelling fanbase, are an ever-present constant.

Chavez, otherwise known as ‘The Furious Aztec,’ was more than happy to sign on the dotted line to challenge for GKO’s 145-pound strap. Trained out of Team Bodyshop MMA, Chavez’s featherweight frame is in tip-top condition to push for all three rounds, if necessary. Following a first-round submission several months ago at Combate Americas 14, the pro since 2007 eagerly awaits his opportunity to string two wins together, something he hasn’t done since 2015, and advance to the upper-tier of the sport.

In addition to a high-caliber at the top of GKO 11’s bill, the remainder of the card, as of now, includes:

Sam Toomer vs. Julian Erosa in the featherweight division

Melissa Wang vs. Amanda Borg in the atomweight division

Jeremy Murphy vs. Jack Duffy in the flyweight division

Alexandra Toncheva vs. Fee Chrystall in the atomweight division

Justin Cornell vs. Anthony Tsakopoulos in the featherweight division

Jamie Thorton vs. Mercedez Campos in the strawweight division
