Northern California’s MMA Superstars Share Their Thoughts on #MayweatherMcGregor

Mixed martial arts garnered immense attention on August 26, 2017, but the focus was zeroed in on a boxing ring, not a cage.

Competing inside a battleground with half the sides and laced in gloves weighing twice as much as normal, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor, a dual division champion in the UFC, flew the flag of Ireland, obviously, though, whether he wanted to or not, he also represented the sport of MMA when squaring off with the greatest boxer of our lifetime: Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.

From the encroachment of this historical event to its conclusion, many of the athletes at the upper echelon of MMA chimed in with their perspective as McGregor plodded toward a pinnacle moment in combat sports.

UFC Hall of Fame inductee ‘The California Kid’ Urijah Faber led the rally cry, urging his swath of rabid followers to support McGregor’s endeavors:

Opportunity knocks, u kick open the door! We have a dog in the fight! Lets go @thenotoriousmma @ufc

A valiant, ten-round effort from McGregor, capped by an arguable stoppage, adjusted the attitudes of some, such as UFC bantamweight Leslie ‘The Peacemaker’ Smith:

‘Win or learn;’ these are the wordscoined by McGregor’s head coach, John Kavanaghthe proud Irishman lives by. Of course, McGregor’s eyes were opened to tactical maneuvers while facing ‘The Best Ever’ in the squared-circle, but he was also enlightened to the volume of individuals voicing their support, from world-class champions to those hungry to continue their climb up the UFC’s ladder:

@thenotoriousmma ur the man!!!!

With everything all said and done between McGregor and Mayweather and praise pouring in from each possible angle, any positive premonition seem more plausible than ever:
